The keys to getting social: Nokia Asha 210

Nokia announces fresh-looking QWERTY phone with the world’s first dedicated WhatsApp button

The brand new Nokia Asha 210 offers a smarter way to get social. The QWERTY keyboard, WiFi and a dedicated WhatsApp button mean that access to chat is lightning-fast. Not just a socialite, this phone is also a looker, with a distinctive Nokia design and bold colours.

Your questions answered

We hosted a live Q&A with Neeraj Arora from WhatsApp and Neil Broadley from Nokia’s Mobile Phones team to allow people to ask their questions about the Nokia Asha 210. You can read a transcript of that session here.

All the details

The great quality keyboard will be a favourite with text addicts. As well as WhatsApp, the phone comes with Facebook, Twitter and support for email accounts, so you’ll never be more than a few moments away from status updates, chat and messages.

The Asha 210 is fully equipped for capturing and sharing great photographs. There’s a 2-megapixel camera on the back that can be activated using a dedicated button on the front. This works even when the phone is locked, so you’ll never miss a shot.

The camera comes with smart imaging software that boasts the latest talents. The self-portrait feature gives you voice-guidance on where to point to make sure your face is in the frame. And once you’ve taken your shot, you can edit images directly in the camera app. Then, of course, you can share them using your social networks or the innovative Nokia Slam technology, which allows sharing over Bluetooth, without pairing the devices.

The smarter Internet experience on the Asha 210 means that when you’re not on WiFi, the phone goes easy on your data plan. The Nokia Xpress Browser uses cloud-based technology to reduce web pages by up to 90 per cent of their size. You’ll also find the Nokia Nearby web app to help you discover local sights, restaurants and other points of interest. It comes in Single and Dual-SIM variants, with Nokia’s Easy-Swap technology to allow you to change SIM cards on the go. You don’t even have to switch the phone off to change the SIM in the slot on the side.

Like every Nokia Asha, the Asha 210 offers an astonishing battery life. You’ll get up to 46 days standby with the Single SIM model; up to 24 days with Dual SIM.The Nokia Asha 210 will be available in yellow, cyan, black, magenta and white. Before taxes or any operator subsidies, it is expected to be priced at around USD 72 and will go on sale in the second quarter of 2013.

Nokia’s next “hero move”: Launch a flagship Lumia 928 on Verizon in May

Verizon is set to offer a flagship Windows Phone 8 handset as early as next month, according to Bloomberg’s sources. On Tuesday, it cited two people familiar with the plan saying the Nokia Lumia 928 will launch on Verizon’s LTE network in May, although the largest U.S. carrier has declined comment. The report lines up with rumors over the past few months and could be what Nokia CEO Stephen Elop meant while speaking to investors last week when he said “another hero move” was in the works for the current quarter.

If the reports are true, adding a new Lumia flagship to Verizon’s lineup could offer a bump for both Windows Phone 8 and Lumia sales. Currently, Verizon offers just a single Lumia model: the Lumia 822, which is essentially last year’s hardware with updated Microsoft software. The Windows Phone 8 handset is free with contract and uses a relatively low-resolution 800 x 480 touchscreen, for example.

The Lumia 928, however, is expected to be an improved version of the Lumia 920, which debuted as an AT&T exclusive in November. Exclusive phone deals can vary, but many have six-month time frames; this adds more credence to a similar-looking Lumia flagship arriving in May. I’d expect Verizon’s Lumia 928 to
have at least a 1280 x 768 display as that’s what the Lumia 920 offers. A newer dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon chip would likely power such a phone and Nokia is sure to use camera technology that touts exceptional pictures as well.

Even as a new flagship model phone, I’d be surprised if it costs more than $149 on contract with Verizon. The Lumia 920 debuted on AT&T for $99 as Nokia made a big push in the U.S. market. The company has improved its sales and average handset selling price, but to push out a Lumia 928 for $199 or more — unless there’s some radical new features or functions — doesn’t make sense to me; consumers could all too easily opt for an iPhone, HTC One or Samsung Galaxy S 4 at that price.

Right now, Nokia — and Microsoft, for that matter — are trying to build up not just Windows Phone sales. They’re also trying to broaden consumer sentiment and brand awareness in a country where 90 percent of smartphones are from the two A’s: Apple and Android.

Lumia 928 Replacement Screen Shows up online; Packs a Super Amoled Display

Website Hits

An online phone parts supplier ”Etradesupply.com” has posted a replacement screen for the Lumia 928 on its site. The replacement screen is actually larger than the Lumia 920′s by a good 5 mms; but appears to bring back the symmetry in the device that so many of you want. The screen is a Samsung-made 4.5″ Super AMOLED rather than the PureMotion HD+ LCD of the Lumia 920.

OEM Nokia Lumia 928 LCD Screen and Digitizer Assembly

Specifications:

Screen Size: 4.5 inches
Type of Glass: Corning Gorilla Glass
Type of Screen: Super AMOLED
Type of Connector: Clip

 Product Features:

1. Nokia has adopted a Super AMOLED screen made by Samsung as the screen for Nokia Lumia 928. This screen is much thinner, lighter than that screen on Lumia 920.

2. At the first glance of these two different digitizer and LCD screen assembles, you will find that the Lumia 928's digitizer and LCD screen assembly looks slimmer than Lumia 920, cause it's 5 mm taller than 920's digitizer and LCD screen assembly.Though Lumia 928's screen is taller, the display area is still the same as Lumia 920, a 4.5 inches display.

3. Another difference you can figure out is that the microphone phone of Lumia 928 is at the bottom of the screen, while that on Lumia 920 is at the bottom side of the phone.

4. when we turn the assembles around, we can easily find out the main difference of these two screens. The LCD screen of Nokia Lumia 920 is an IPS screen which is fitted in a metal frame and the digitizer is attached to the frame with adhesive, while the LCD screen of Nokia Lumia 928 is a whole unit which is an AMOLED screen made by Samsung. We don't know why Nokia quits the IPS screen they used for Lumia 900, but what we know is that the AMOLED screen is much lighter and thinner than IPS screen, which means the space left can be used for larger battery.

Update For New Nokia Lumia: Lumia Thinks Beyond Of Your Thinking

                                                Nokia Lumia 928 Renders Pictures

Best Feature Of Nokia Lumia 928

Nokia is going to add a new device to its series of smartphones which it call Lumia and this time it is going to be Nokia Lumia 928. The phone is expected to be similar to its ancestor i.e. Nokia Lumia 920. After the success of Lumia 920, a lot of people are waiting for the release of this phone. It is basically a windows phone that runs on latest Microsoft Windows 8. Although there is no news regarding the price or features of the phone, but there have been some rumors about the design of the phone and its release date. The company will be adding some new and significant features in order for this phone to compete in the smartphone market.

Leaks for the upcoming Lumia 928 continue to surface, as new information points to significant changes over the Lumia 920 and an April launch on Verizon Wireless.

The Verge reports that Nokia will move away from plastic with the Lumia 928, to opt for aluminum. The aluminium choice is said to reduce the weight and thickness over the Lumia 920, which in our review we noted as a big problem for Nokia's flagship. HTC notably made a similar jump with its HTC One, ditching a traditional plastic design for a sleeker aluminium build.

The Lumia 928 is said to feature a xenon and LED flash combination for the 8-megapixel PureView camera. Other specs are said to be similar to the Lumia 920, including a 720p 4.5-inch display, 1GB of RAM, LTE capability, 32GB of storage, and big 2000mAh.

The handset's launch could be a big deal for Microsoft's attack in the US. Verizon currently offers only the powerful Windows Phone 8X by HTC, Samsung ATIV Odyssey, and Nokia Lumia 822.

Microsoft is reportedly set to be providing big market dollars for the device, giving Windows Phone 8 a bigger presence stateside. According to the latest report, the Lumia 928 will launch in April. Last month, an internal product listing at Verizon hinted the launch even further, making us think this is a sure thing for Verizon's spring line-up.

Nokia Lumia the Best verizon smartphone 2013 leaks more camera sample

I think it is pretty clear now that Nokia is leaking sample pictures taken by the Nokia Lumia 928.  The pictures of the family above is just too marketing perfect for anything else.

In any case, the pictures also give a pretty good idea of the performance of the front facing camera in the picture on the top left, and with its reflection in the mirror also gives us the first look at the back of the elusive Nokia Lumia 928, with its flash or camera placement clearly in a very different location from thee Nokia Lumia 928.

The front of the device can also be spotted in a reflection of the woman’s sun glasses, probably telling us more about how good the front facing camera is than anything about the styling of the device, which is obviously dominated by the screen.

The pictures were spotted by Androsym identified by their EXIF data, though they did not reveal where.

We have also spotted the handset in or logs, interestingly with both a Verizon and Mexican IP address.  I suspect it will not be too long before we see the device hit the market.

Nokia Lumia 928 leaks, thinner than the 920

A new Nokia is on the cards, and this one promises to strip the Lumia 920 of its flagship status. Called the Lumia 928, it's leaked via the @evleaks Twitter account, and it's a slightly tweaked version of the 920.The 928 is heading for US network Verizon, so I don't know whether us Brits will ever see it on these shores. Still, we can hope…

So what's changed from the Lumia 920? The two look very similar, but the 928 has a longer flash on the back. It'll also be slightly thinner, measuring 10.2mm at its thinnest point and 11.2mm at its thickest, with a slightly curved back, according to The Verge. Instead of an LCD screen, the 928 will sport a 4.5-inch OLED jobby. Other than that, the specs are near identical, with a 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 32GB of storage, and 1GB of RAM. Good stuff.

The Lumia 928 will eschew an aluminium frame in favour of a thinner polycarbonate one. It'll also reportedly have a new xenon flash as well as the same LED one as found on the 920. Lighting your snaps shouldn't be an issue, then. It's expected to go on sale in the US later this month, but as I say, there's no word on whether it'll find its way across the pond.

The Lumia 920 earned itself a highly commendable four out of five stars in our review. But that's not as good as the wallet-friendly Lumia 620, which scored four and a half. Proof you don't need to spend big to get a decent smart phone.

Nokia Lumia 928 spied for Verizon Wireless

How does a US carrier get around AT&T's exclusivity of the Lumia 920? Why, it releases an exclusive of its own, of course. News of the Lumia 928 is probably familiar to many of you, which has been rumored (and spotted in inventory systems) as an upscale Windows Phone for Verizon. Now, things just got real, as @evleaks has just released the first glimpse of the Lumia 928, and adorned in black, we're quite sure that Batman would approve. Naturally, Big Red's branding adorns both the front and back of the device, but at least there's a modicum of restraint. This being Nokia's second Windows Phone outing on Verizon, we're crossing our fingers that the phone was spared a beating with the ugly stick. We'll reserve judgment until we can get our grubby mitts on one.

Nokia Lumia 928 Breath Taking Render Pictures

I’m in love all over again! At first I wasn’t a fan of the Lumia 928′s design; but the render above has stolen my heart! Sure it might not follow the curved fabula design of the 928 and all its predecessors  but it might just be something even better. The phone reminds me of the 810 more than anything, with its strong corners and flat screens, and although it might not be all curvy and sleek; the design looks to be the perfect match for the Windows Phone Metro interface.

And in case you get the feeling you’ve seen this before, it does bear a striking resemblance to the rendered concepts for a Microsoft surface phone, don’t you think?

Nokia Lumia 928 Release Date

The phone is expected to be launched in the month of April on the Verizon network. Earlier there were rumors of the device to be launched along with Samsung Galaxy S4, but now it is expected to be out in market in first week of April in US, UK and some other countries.
