Upcoming Verizon Phones 2013
Verizon has been releasing lots of phones each year over the past few years. In fact in 2012 they released over 7 smartphones and you can see some of the new Droid phones they released on that link. They also released several basic phones that don’t require data plans for those individuals that for some reason only want to make phone calls with their phone.
So what are some of the upcoming Verizon phones in 2013 going to be?
Keep in mind the bottom part of this list is just rumors…the top few phones are certain to almost certain to launch in 2013.
Galaxy S4- April – Spring 2013
Xperia Z- March Q1 2013
Xperia ZL- March Q1 2013
Droid RAZR MAXX 2 – Fall 2013
Droid 5- Summer 2013
New iPhone – Summer/Fall2013
Galaxy Note 3 – Holiday 2013
Nexus 5 – Summer Q3 2013
HTC M7- Summer/Spring 2013
Samsung Galaxy S4
Oh you know the Galaxy S4 is coming without a doubt in 2013. With the super success of the Galaxy s3 in 2012 Samsung can’t wait to pinch out a new version and jump ahead of the iPhone 5. It will probably be a new Verizon phone in the spring or summer of 2013. (It looks like the Galaxy S IV release date is in April)
The only problem is that the Galaxy S4 is not going to be a huge leap in terms of specs over the Galaxy S3. The only things they can do is make improvements, but not huge gains. The video camera will still be 1080p, it will probably shoot better video and take better pictures but really not a huge difference. The Galaxy S4 might have a larger camera sensor from 8MP to 13MP, but the pictures will look very similar.
The process will be a quad core 2GHz more then likely and it will be fast, but the Galaxy S3 is pretty quick…probably not a huge noticeable difference. The S4 screen will be a 1080p screen and probably look marginally better.
BlackBerry is trying to make one last big push to save itself from going out of business and they’re hoping the Z10 and Q10 can save them. This new upcoming Verizon phone in March 2013 is actually getting positive attention from the smart phone loving community. As long as the new BlackBerrys perform well they might actually sell ok. It’s also coming to the AT&T network in March.
The Z10 is a 100% touch based phone like any Android or iPhone and has 2011-2012 specs. Yes, the latest Blackberry can’t touch the newer Android phones as far as specs are concerned but the phone does run nicely.Z10 has a dual core 1.5GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 720p display that is 4.2 inches.
So far the BlackBerry Z10 is getting mediocre reviews and everyone says the battery is horrible….not a great start to the new BlackBerry line up. At least the new Z10 looks good.
You know the Nexus 5 is coming, it’s just a matter of when and what is it going to bring to the table this time. There are already rumors about the Nexus 5 even though the Nexus 4 was just recently released. So what possible improvements could LG bring with the updated Nexus 5? Well they could start with a 5″ 1080p screen or just a 720p screen would be fine too.
They’ll have to bring the latest gen quad-core processor and at least 2GB of RAM…nobody has gone above 2GB or RAM yet and it probably won’t be until 2014 until we see more then 2GB or RAM on any smartphone because 2GB is getting it done right now.
You can always improve the camera, maybe not add more megapixels but improve the quality is something that can always be done. It looks like the Nexus 5 will have a 13MP camera to match up to all the other super high end smartphones in 2013.The other upgrades would be wireless charging or waterproofing. It will probably be wireless charging out of those two choices.
The HTC M7 is coming to AT&T and maybe even Sprint. The rumor is that it will be a new Verizon phone but it seems to be a very similar phone to the Droid DNA, in fact it has almost the same specs except for a larger MP camera so far. It could be the Droid DNA 2 but it would be a light refresh, which honestly that’s about all you can do now with the DNA because all the specs are just about maxed out. We have a feeling that this phone might be named something different on each carrier…we’ll have to wait and see…hopefully soon.
HTC M7 release date: Summer 2013
The rumored HTC M7 specs:
1.7GHz quad core processor
2MP front camera
1080p video camera
1080p 4.7 inch screen
2,450 mAh battery
Droid 5 – Will Verizon Release the Droid 5?
The original Droid was a huge hit for Verizon when they first started competing with the iPhone. In fact they’ve build 3 more after the original and the Droid 4 was still a success. There is little doubt that Verizon will release the Droid 5 even though at this time (Jan 2013) there have not been any rumors for the Droid 5.
The droid name has carried on to many different and very successful phones that include the Droid Incredible, Droid DNA, Droid RAZR, Droid RAZR MAXX, Droid RAZR MAXX HD, Droid RAZR HD just to name a few.
We’ll keep you posted on the Droid 5 rumors, specs and news.
Samsung ATIV Odyssey Upcoming Verizon Phone
Another upcoming Verizon phone is the Samsung ATIV Odyssey. The budget Windows 8 phone will be coming in the next few weeks says Verizon. It has s 4 inch Super AMOLED screen and a 5MP camera. It’s sporting a basic 1.5GHz qualcomm processor and a 2,100 mAh battery that should be enough battery to power the phone for a couple days.
This is a boring phone that is going to be free very quick if not at the release date. We can’t recommend this
phone over anything and you should not buy it.There are lots of other phones that are just as cheap and blow this phone out of the water. It has a 1GB of RAM and has a dual-core 1.5GHz snapdragon processor and that’s about the best thing about it. The camera is only 5MP which in 2013 is below average and the tiny little 4″ screen is like an iPhone…very small after you’ve spent anytime with a big 4.5″-5″ man sized phone.
This phone is starting out at $99 with a $50 rebate…there are lots of other phones for the same price and even cheaper that are better.
Pantech is releasing two very good phones for the budget market in 2013. They’re releasing the Pantech Discover HD that is specifically for AT&T and then a very solid rumor has popped up saying that there is a upcoming Verizon phone version too called the Pantech Perception.
Both Pantech phones for Verizon and AT&T are basically the same phone with different company logos. The new Verizon Android phone will start out around $50 on a 2 year contract. The Pantech Perception has a 4.8″ HD screen that has a resolution of 720p. It’s powered by the snappy 1.5GHz dual-core snapdragon S4. It’s a mid range budget phone and if you can’t come up with $200 or so for the new Sony Xperia Z or the Galaxy S4 then this phone would be worth looking at.
Pantech Perception specs
1.5GHz dual-core snapdragon S4 processor
4.8″ HD 720p screen
1080p video camera
2MP front camera
2,100 mAh battery
