A product life cycle support end date has been set by Microsoft for all its software & hardware products. After the end date, company will not be providing any official support or updates for the concerned product. The end of the support for windows 8 has been set in August 2014. Product Life Cycle Support end dates for Windows Phone 7.8 and Windows Phone 8 platforms are founded by Italian website Plaffo.
Microsoft has started releasing out new Windows Phone 7.8 update for devices running Windows Phone 7.5 and now the official support for Windows Phone 7.8 ends by September 9, 2014. So consumers just have a year and half to enjoy the Windows Phone 7.8 officially.
The Windows Phone 8 platform was declared on October 29, 2012 but this platform will be supported by Microsoft till July 8, 2014. This is about less than a 2 year life cycle. These are only the tentative dates. However, company may extend them if there is huge uproar.
Microsoft took honest step by making such info public so that users can estimate that a typical Smartphone’s software will get updates for two years. The main idea is to get consumers to buy freshly launched software-based Smartphone’s as early as possible. These are not the days when smart phones can be utilized beyond 2 years.
